The Council of the CPBS held their first Council meeting after the AGM on Thursday 20/11/14. Tom MacLochlainn from New Inn, Ballinasloe was elected President. Jim Mullaney and John Varley were elected as Vice-Presidents. Padraic Heanue was elected Treasurer and John Riordan was elected Honorary Secretary. A committee was formed consisting of Jerry Mahon, Noel Brett and Andy O’Donoghue, to review the Memorandum and Articles and plan for an EGM in early 2015. The committee plan to consult with all stakeholders. Hoof Wall Separation Disease was discussed and will be addressed by the Breeding committee as a matter of urgency. The Council adopted Dr. McMahon’s recent proposals on Office Management systems and employee handbook. It was agreed to hold a workshop for Council members on Monday 1st December prior to the December Council meeting.

 

The CPBS Council met for a seminar on Monday 1st December. In a thorough and wide ranging discussion it has begun to plan it’s programme of work for the coming year. Several group discussions and presentations dealt with every aspect of the Society’s work and methodology. The Council was very honoured to have President Michael D. Higgins accompanied by his wife Sabine drop in a for brief visit during which he wished the Society well in it’s work.
